一、课程的性质、类别、目的和任务

大学英语教学是高等教育的一个有机组成部分,大学英语课程是大学生的一门必修的基础课程。大学英语教学是以英语语言知识与应用技能、学习策略和跨文化交际为主要内容,以外语教学理论为指导,并集多种教学模式和教学手段为一体的教学体系。大学英语课程的总体目标是全面提高学生的英语综合语言应用能力。通过本课程的教学,不仅要提高学生英语语言技能和相关的语言知识水平,还要以培养学生创新精神与实践能力为重点的素质教育。

大学英语口语课程作为一门重要的必修的基础技能课程,主要通过课堂口语实践,充分唤起学生学习英语的兴趣,使学生通过吸收丰富的语料,快速提高听说能力,深入了解各国文化和社会知识,训练学生用英语进行思考,有效培养他们的英语交际能力。通过形式多样的语言技能训练,使学生能就日常生活中常用的话题用比较简单的英语准确地表达自己的思想,以达到在具体的社会语境中得体地使用英语的目的。

通过大学英语口语课程的教学,应使学生能够运用已掌握的词汇、句型和常用表达法,结合个人实际,较为流畅地就一些常见话题发表个人见解。大多数学生应能通过本门课程的学习具备用英语介绍信息、发表意见等基本交际能力。与此同时,本课程还将进一步强调学生的语言准确性和表达多样性,使他们逐步脱离母语的负面影响。

通过本课程的学习,学生应能就日常生活中的一般情景进行恰当的交谈;能就社会生活中的一般性话题进行连贯的发言;能比较准确地表达自己的思想,做到语音准确、语调自然、语法基本正确,语言运用基本得体。将语言技能、语言知识、文化意识等要素有机地结合起来,相互促进、循序渐进,帮助学生最终实现交际的目的。

另外,教师还要根据我校人才培养目标,对课程进行认真研究、深入挖掘,结合课程特点、教学内容和当前形势及现实生活,对学生进行人生观、世界观、价值观和思想道德品质教育,努力使学生在获得知识的同时学会做人的道理。

二、本课程与其它课程的联系与分工

本课程宜从三年级第一学期开始,在确保学生已学习并掌握了本课程所需要的大学英语基础知识的基础之上,进行非英语专业学生的英语口语专项应用能力的训练与提高,即通过大量的口语练习和实践,逐步培养和提高学生用英语进行口头交际的能力,同时帮助学生了解主要英语国家的文化和生活习俗,完善在前四个学年学过的英语读写知识。

三、教学内容及教学基本要求

本课程实行以学生为中心的教学方法进行教学,在为期一年(64学时)的教学过程中,教师将提供给学生更多尝试语言的机会,让他们用英语来表达自己的思想。课堂教学不能拘泥于某种固定模式,必须是多种教学方法有机的结合。通过本课程的学习使学生在英语口语运用方面达到以下基本要求:

① 掌握一定的听说交流技能,提高学生的口头表达能力和交际能力;

② 帮助学生摆脱口语障碍,把听说领先的教学原则置于一种真实、宽松、主动和持久的文化背景和语言环境中去贯彻和落实,以期培养学生掌握准确、流利而得体的口语。

本课程的重点、难点在于:培养及训练学生语言知识的转移能力,即:学生通过读和听获得知识信息和语言,经过思维在原来知识及语言基础上对所获得的内容、对语言进行加工和重组,赋予新的内容,然后输出信息,从而完成交际的全过程。
